I have tried all the steps in

You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Required steps before posting your log

but I couldn't get any of the online scans to work! I have had Zone Alarm Security Suite do both a system scan for Spyware and Viruses, nothing came up on the viruses but a few on the spyware which Zone Alarm automatically deleted.

Whenever I access msn groups it comes up with Page cannot be displayed hit refresh and there it is! Also, a lot of web sites are either loading very slowly or not at all.

I'm on cable broadband 1mb. Any ideas?

Please download Panda ActiveScan

Make sure you run this scan in Internet Explorer.

Accept default settings, and scan your computer.

I did not mention it before, but this scan needs to be ran from Internet Explorer. If you did not use IE, please try running the scan from IE.

It came up with nothing see below:

Hello!

This is a good online scan, and it will show us if there are any bad files on your computer. (Panda scan is good, but its not worth troubleshooting it to find out why it is not working, since there are tons of other programs that we can use instead.)

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
  • Install background guard
  • Install scan via context menu
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
• The program will now open to the main screen.
• When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  
• You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
  • Then click on Start Update.
• The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
• Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

You can uninstall ewido if you wish, however I reccomend that you keep it on your computer, as it is a great antispyware program.

I've had a little play msn is still having to be refreshed but I've managed to get on a website that I couldn't. Apart from the runtime errors I get when browsing occasionally it seems fine, I might try re-installing ie.

The computer boots up fairly slow but I think that it's the amount of programs and Zone Alarm stopping them until it's loaded so I'm going to try and thin them down.

Hello!

To see if IE is the real problem, please download Firefox.

You do not have to use firefox permanatly (unless you like it), but I would reccomend downloading it and trying it out. Then let me know if you get the same errors with FireFox.

I have been using Firefox for a few weeks and don't get the same problems but I wasn't that impressed with it so now I'm trying Opera, so far so good........... It's just that as has been said ie will show pages with errors where the others won't and some downloads/sites request/need ie to be used like Panda's site and msn chat.

I do not believe that it is a spyware issue. If you want to continue to use IE. I would reccomend posting in out Internet and Browsers Forum, someone there should be able to help you fix IE.
