I have a sony vaio laptop vgn fs550 with matshita uj831da dvd+/-rw drive, and after just a few days of use, the CD-RW/DVD-R drive no longer reads/writes any CD Roms, CD-R's or Audio CD's. I can hear the disk starting to spin, & then it stops, sometimes continuing clicking sound.

It does read/write DVD's & DVD-R's however.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem may be? The Device Manager shows that this device is working properly.

I have windows xp sp2.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
