In general I would greatly appreciate a look over of my log so you can tell me what is going on man. My computer has been running fairly slow lately, and my desktop is covered by a flashing white/beige screen. Although not as bad as the Blue Screen of Death Bill Gates endured....still annoying. Anything you can advise is again greatly appreciated.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.
Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://qus9.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://srch-qus9.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.comcast.net
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-qus9.hpwis.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Comcast
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - Startup: WindowsUpdate99739[1].exe

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WindowsUpdate99739[1].exe also click "start", "all programs", "startup" and delete this from there too.

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of spsublsp.dll. Reboot normally and post new log with any news on your system's situation.

Which video card are you using? Do you have the updated drivers? Do you have any idea why you have this running>>C:\WINDOWS\System32\S3tray2.exe
Do you know what OmniPass is?

In regard to my video card, it is the S3 Prosavage DDR. I am just about sure that is the right name...also referred to as a display adapter.

S3tray.exe????....No clue really. All I know is that when my computer was super slow and I tried to do a google search on the file, it was going so slow I was too impatient to wait...then I went to this website...and so on...now to where i am! biggrin.gif

All I know about OmniPass is it has to do with passwords..or something...hate to sound stupid, but it is on my computer, and I didn't even know it!

Any info or light you may shed on the above mentioned topics would be appreicated. Otherwise, thank you very much for you help.

Ok, your log looks clean now. Although I don't think any of that had anything to do with your white screen. I have searched for information on s3tray.exe and all info says it's a driver, maybe I'm just forgetting everything I know, but last time I checked I didn't think actual drivers ended with .exe , If it's driver related it seems as if it would be the driver installation program rather than the driver itself. Also if you have an idea of what OmniPass is and you don't need it and don't ever remembering installing it......uninstall it. One more thing.

Click Here download the latest version of Hijack This (1.98.2). It's better able to catch the latest threats.

Let me know what you find out about anything. I'll look deeper into this s3tray.exe deal.
