No, I actually have not had any for some time now, despite discovery over the weeks of new things. I will run Microsoft Antispyware to see if Apropos is finally and fully gone, and get back to you tonight.

I thank you again for all of your Yoda-like help. Your time and effort are very much appreciated!!

Sure, its the same as it always been - d**n Apropos! Like I said, I have not noticed any effect from it (I have no idea what PeopleOnPage is, but am pretty sure I have never used it), but that "severe" label is worrisome!

Chances are that it is only a registry entry as all the logs have been looked at and have been cleaned. Lets anyway fix it.

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as fix.reg
Save as type:All files (The first line in the file should be REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Aprps]

Reboot the PC in Safe Mode.

Please shut down Microsoft Anti-Spyware (MSAS) as it may interfere with the fix.

Double click on fix.reg and let it merge with your registry.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Make sure that MSAS is running.

Do a scan with MSAS again and let me know if it is still found.

It should been quarantined by now !!! :tazz:

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
  • Exit ewido. DO NOT scan yet.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, start tapping press F8 key.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now open ewido and do a scan of your system.
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Now run the CleanUp program.

Finally, restart your computer back into Normal Mode and please post a new HJT log, as well as the ewido report log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply

I know, I dont get it! I think we already tried the step you are suggesting, way earlier in this topic. In any event, I already have both programs - do you want me to run them both as requested?

I can tell you right now that Ewido will not pick it up. I have been running it almost daily for about two weeks - it never picks it up, nor for the past week has it picked up anything at all! (a good thing!).

I do admit, however, that I have run neither program in Safe Mode.

Sorry for the delay - hectic lately, not a lot of time for computer!

[bleep], I cannot find the Ewido report from Safe Mode. I will keep trying to find it, and post back in a few. I ran all scans last night. SpySweeper picked up Ewido and Elitebar, no other program really picked up anything else. Ewido did pick up two things, cannot remember what. MSAS is still picking up Apropos.

Here is a fresh HiJack this log. I think it looks OK(??)
