I was actually hoping that you would tell me something about Intrlink!? I have no idea what it is, so I dont think it is important to keep or anything like that. I am just as happy to delete it altogether if you think it best and you can tell me how to do so.

I am fine with the rest of the instructions and can carry them out later, but do you have a link for Killbox?

This is what I can tell you about Intrlink - http://www.intrlink.com/

I dont like it. Looks like a generic browser hijacker etc etc.

Great, thanks for the link - will get on the steps in a few hours and, hopefully, i will be able to make my next post from the infected PC.

As for Intrlink, how do I get rid of it? What if it is not in Add/Remove? Just add those entries to the Killbox?

I'm sorry, I forgot - if the link for Killbox is from GTG, the infected PC will not allow it to go there. Is there another link you know of?

Re Intrlink, I will put those into Killbox and report back with the results. Thanks!!

Hey!! I am so excited, I can barely contain myself! I decided to run Killbox in Safe Mode, after the logs looked the same after I ran it in Normal) and then rebooted. AFter running it in Safe, I had all sorts of issues restarting (blue screen, error starting up), but once I did and my desktop icons appeared, two awesome things happened: 1) a Norton message popped up in the corner saying the protection had been updated; and 2) a Norton alert came up saying it had automatically deleted Haxdoor, which apparently had attempted to start up!! I got on the Internet and was able to get here.

Then I got off internet, ran rootkit again and a fresh HJT log. Almost all of the stuff from Rootkit was gone, and you will see what happened to 020 on HJT!! Yay!! I then turned System REstore back on (it was off) and now I am on here again.

I am going to update and run all of my scans again before logging off - MSAS, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Ewido, and Norton.

Here is what I am giving you: first, the Rootkit and HJT logs after I had run Killbox in Normal Mode and rebooted; then, both logs after I had run it in Safe Mode and rebooted. I dont pretend to believe that I am totally out of the woods yet, but this has to be a good start, right?!

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O20 - Winlogon Notify: avpu32 - avpu32.dll (file missing)

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC.

Have you run the other scans ??? Did they detect anything ???

Great, thanks, will do. I ran Norton last night before falling asleep, and it came up empty. I will run rest before I post back fresh HJT log. Given that it seems apparent the virus was affecting my scanners, though, do I need to worry about reactivating anything by running the scans?

Virus was effecting the scanners i.e. viruses were blocking the activity of the scanners.

I believe that we have got them all.

So you can run the scanners.

Hey, tampabelle!

I was able to delte 020 from HJT. I rebooted and it is now gone.

MSAS is still picking up Apropos, but I feel like you have done so much for me already I should just live with it!!

All other scans clean.
