I don't see that line that I told you to fix in the latest HijackThis Log. It looks like it was fixed. Do you see any improvement on your computer system? Is your computer still having the same problems that you mentioned in your original post?

Yes, the same problem is there. I'll restart and hijack again, because after getting the error message, I restarted and hijacked again. After doing so, the line was back.

And to answer your previous question, if I had the problem after I got it back from the IT Department:

That was about a year ago, and if I had to guess Rambro, I'd say yes. I did notice the problem after I got it back. All I can say for sure is that this pop up has been around for a while.

I would like you to try the following.

I would like you to reboot into "Safe Mode" and fix the following line with the HijackThis application:

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: KATRACK.DLL

Then restart your computer in normal mode.

If the above fix works, without any error messages, I want you to post a new HijackThis log.

In addition, let me know in detail how your computer system is running after performing the above steps.

I couldn't fix the file in safe mode.

It won't let me rename the file. It gives me an error message.

Ok. I tried searching for it again, after trying to change the name and couldn't find it. So I searched for Katrack.old, and found it. So I'll try your instructions again.

Dear Eneoecu, :tazz:

Rename KATRACK.OLD back to KATRACK.DLL.

Now we will try to unregister KATRACK.DLL. This is how it is done:

Go to Start -> Run -> type the following: regsvr32 /u c:\windows\KATRACK.DLL

(Note: Eneocu, make sure the directory path/location of the KATRACK.DLL file is correct. Do a search for this file.)

Restart your computer.

Run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entry/entries (if they exist):

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: KATRACK.DLL

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" button to finish the repair. Close the HijackThis application.

Restart your computer and post a new HiJackThis log.

In addition, let me know in detail how your computer system is running after performing the above steps. :)

It says that the .dll doesn't seem to be a .dll or .ocx file, after I changed it back to a .dll file. So it wouldn't unregister it.

I just want to thank you again, Rambro, you sure have put forth a lot of effort to help me with this problem! :tazz:
