Hi Guys, I've taken the steps reccommended in the 'read this first' link for Malware infections. Adaware and some of the others found various infections and removed them, however I still have the flashing Caution symbol on my tool bar telling me that my computer is infected by Spyware, that my connection is slow, etc, if I click it it tries to download PSGuard?

I've done a windows update upto but not including SP2 as per the instructions in the 'read this first' link.

I've rebooted and run HJT, here is the log, any input appreciated....

Hi ifonlyiknew, welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time. DO NOT UPGRADE TO SP2 AT THIS TIME
  • Click HERE for the update.
  • Apply the update.
  • REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM
  • Post a fresh Hijack This log
Regards,

Trevuren

Hi Trevuren, I downloaded SP1a, but I couldn't install it. It said the license key is invlaid. My friend gave me the lap top and I don't know if the Windows license is valid? What should I do?

While we understand that you may not have been aware, your copy of Windows is not legitimate. Unfortunately, we are unable to help you any further on this site, as we have a strict policy we adhere to in only helping people who have legitmate copies of Windows. Thank you for understanding
