Hi jlajla24, welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time. DO NOT UPGRADE TO SP2 AT THIS TIME
  • Click HERE for the update.
  • Apply the update.
  • REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM
  • Post a fresh Hijack This log
Regards,

Trevuren

Forgive me for this, but I'm tyring to fix my father in laws laptop :) . He just bought it used, about a month ago....I'm sure my brother in law has had about 4 weeks of "adult site" heaven :) ....that explains all the viruses. The one thing I can't do is connect to the internet. He doesn't have an ethernet port for my broadband. He uses dialup :tazz: So, Im having to get everything and d/l it to my flash drive and install it that way. Point being, as part of my "recovery" if you ask for me to go to an "online scan" I'm not sure how I'm going to accomplish that. Just trying to beat you to the punch.

After trying to install SP1a, an error message was returned. "product key used to install windows is not valid".....so apparently the guy he bought this from had a pirated copy of XP......now what? lol

While we understand that you may not have been aware, your copy of Windows is not legitimate. Unfortunately, we are unable to help you any further on this site, as we have a strict policy we adhere to in only helping people who have legitmate copies of Windows. Thank you for understanding
