Can I make my computer's hard drive read-only accessible over a local area network? That way I can transfer files from one computer to another more easily. Is there a way to password protect the files or otherwise keep them from being accessed from some hacker on the Internet (I have cable)? I'm running on XP.

Rith click on your drive in My Computer and click on the security tab, you can select with whom you want to share with and what rights to assign them
