OK KnuxFive, our top people are on this. I have another case now just like yours so it isn't an isolated problem. They need you to do two things:

1. Submit file:
  • Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.
  • Navigate to this file in windows explorer C:\WINDOWS\repair\imgmsvc.dl
  • right click on it and choose compress and email
  • Please email that file to : [email protected]
  • In the subject, put the name of the file

2. Also, please do the following:
  • Go to Start>>Run and type cmd
  • Enter the following at the command line:

    dir %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\*.*>c:\etcdir.txt

  • Them to post the results of c:\etcdir.txt into this thread

I do not have "Compress and E-Mail" as an option. Can I zip it up and just mail it that way?

I've sent the file, but was unable to use ETCDIR via the command prompt. I did search for it and find it in the C:\ folder, but the file itself had no text.

1. Go Start>>Run and type cmd in the box and press Enter

2. type cd.. and press ENTER as many times as necessary to get to the C:\>

3. Type dir %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\*.*>c:\etcdir.txt and press Enter (Note) There is a space between dir and %windir%

4. Using Windows Explorer, go to C:\ and find the c:\etcdir.txt file

5. Copy and paste the text in your next reply.

6. If done like above, there will be a file to copy/paste.

Excellent KnuxFive.

I'll be getting back to you. For your information, that bad file is starting to appear in other registry entries. So our people are working hard on it.

Your case started the ball rolling. Thanks for the cooperation

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    • C:\WINDOWS\repair\imgmsvc.dll
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\repair\imgmsvc.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: imgmsvc - C:\WINDOWS\repair\imgmsvc.dll

  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
  • Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
  • Once your machine reboots please post a new HijackThis log as well as the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.
Regards,

Trevuren

What happens? Is has worked on over 6 of the others so far.

What do you mean when you say you don't get a chance to type in anything

When I load up KillVundo, the first option is "Press Any Key To Continue". What follows is something regarding a failed download, and then (I believe) it begins to scan, saying it will take a while, and then goes straight to Hijack This.
