Welcome, russ hill.

After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print out the instructions here (or save it in Notepad) so that you can follow along more easily.

1. Download Cwshredder.exe and save it to a folder of its own.

Download it from here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder/

Start the program, and click on the Check for Update button. If an update is available then download and install it.

With CWSShredder open:

Click Fix -> and click OK at the prompt.

CWShredder will scan and clean your system of CWS files.

Click Next-> and then Exit.

2. Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://msaps.dll/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://msaps.dll/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://msaps.dll/search.html
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: Tubby - {9EAC0102-5E61-2312-BC2D-76746C56544C} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0E1230F8-EA50-42A9-983C-D22ABC2EED3B} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {9EAC0102-5E61-2312-BC2D-76746C56544C} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tapisys] C:\WINDOWS\System32\tss.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [XPSP2 Firewall] C:\WINDOWS\system32\xpsp2fw.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2MNoP] C:\FGOYIACT.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SurfAccuracy] C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy\SAcc.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Xrwio] C:\PROGRAM FILES\PUMB\YJGEUF.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] \ISTsvc\
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [tapisys] C:\WINDOWS\System32\tss.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Update Client ] C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuclient.exe

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

3. Please download/install/configure/update with Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware.

Follow all the instructions in the following tutorials(Hold off on doing the full scans. We will do these in safe mode.):

Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

4. Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\FGOYIACT.EXE <==file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tss.exe <==file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuclient.exe <==file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xpsp2fw.exe <==file

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ISTsvc\ <==directory
C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy\ <==directory
C:\PROGRAM FILES\PUMB\ <==directory

5. Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
Let it scan your system for files to remove.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
Press OK to remove them.

6. Perform a full system scan in Ad-aware and Spybot.

Restart your computer.

7. Please run these two online scans. Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan <====save the scan log and add it to your reply

You should try to delete any files that these scanners are unable to clean. Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.

Please reply to this post with a new HiJackThis log and the scan log from the Panda Active Scan.

Great, russ hill. After you have completed all of the steps, post back with a new HijackThis log and the scan log from the Panda Active Scan.

Normally, these logs take a few posts before your log will come back clean.

Thanks,

Does it seem to be running a little better now?

Log looks clean...great job!

Let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
* CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
--------------------
Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detection and Removal Programs:

You already have 2 good Anti-spyware detection programs -SpyBot and Ad-Aware. It is important that both of these programs are updated, and you run full system scans on a regular basis.

Please see the following tutorials below:

How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

Prevention Programs:

I recommend the following two programs that will help prevent an infection:

Spywareblaster - SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
Spywareguard - SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

Both programs will compliment one another.

Other necessary Programs:

Anti-virus program - It looks like you have an anti-virus program. It is important that this program is updated, and you run a full system scan on a regular basis.

More Secure Browser - Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.

And also see TonyKlein's good advice
