Hi

I have a strange problem. I am using a dell 5150 and often if i press lightly next to the mouse pad on the left hand side, my computer shuts down. This has also happened from really slight bumps...

Any ideas?
thanks :tazz:

This doesn't sound like the kind of problem you can fix without taking the case off. If you're uncomfortable about taking the case off you might want to take it to a shop or have someone you know is good at these things literally look into it.

Two things you can do are Google the problem, and check at the Dell website to see if it's a known problem. Most large makers don't have very good field product support, they make a lot of "orphans".

Welcome to Geeks to Go.

I suggest to take your laptop back to where you brought it mate and tell them the situation with the laptop, sounds like a repair needs to be mate

Thanks for your advice

Unfortunately it is almost 2 years old and the warranty is no longer valid. (note to self: from now on buy longer warranty)

I have tried opening it up. THere is a dont' press here sticker underneath the cd player that i thought could have been getting pressed.
Any ideas on what to look for once it is open?

Cheers
Tara
