Okay... you guys helped me fix Aurora and my pc was fine, then I let a friend use it and now it's absolutely useless.. I'm booted in safe mode right now to post this but when booted regular IE won't even open for me, even pop-ups close themselves sometimes, but usually they just keep coming until it freezes, even when I'm not in IE.. and when i reboot sometimes it goes to a blue screen about a problem and when i try and reboot it says explorer is not responding and all kinds of crap, basically my PC sucks right now and i REALLY need it being that class starts today, and I have an online class... any help would be greatly appreciated as this problem is WAY out of my league, even HJT froze up once... but here goes my post...

You have a complete mess over there..we have to deal with look2me before anything..cause that's the culprit bringing all the other stuff..

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Here ya go, thanks for the help so far, i really need to fix this POS. It did however say something about a 16 bit ms dos platform when i ran the log, but i just hit ignore and it gave me this readout....

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left.

We're just starting..I'm afraid this will be many steps to clean them all..and now we have a new unwanted guest there: New.Net

This program hijacks your internet access, so has to be removed first..

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location such as your desktop. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4.
(ONLY if you can't find the New.Net in Add/Remove programs).

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet.. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.
If the uninstall was successful,reboot, come back to this thread and post a new log by using the Add Reply button at the top.

Ok, time to do some mass removal

Download the following programs, but don't do any scans yet..you'll do all the scans in safe mode..some of the scans like Adaware will require a reboot, make sure you reboot back to safe mode again..

You better print or save these instructions on Notepad..

1) Download, install, update and run a scan with Spybot S&D:

• Download and Install Spybot S&D, accepting the Default Settings.
• In the Menu Bar at the top of the Spybot window you will see 'Mode'. Make certain that 'default mode' has a check mark beside it.
• Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
• Click the button to ‘Search for Updates’ and then download and install all available Updates.
• Exit Spybot and perform the rest of the below in safe mode.
• Next click the button ‘Check for Problems’
• When Spybot is complete, it will be showing ‘RED’ entries bold 'Black' entries and ‘GREEN’ entries in the window.
• Make certain there is a check mark beside all of the RED entries ONLY.
• Choose ‘Fix Selected Problems’ and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.

2)download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet. Perform the below instructions in safe mode.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

3)Download LQFix from here and unzip it to your desktop. Don't run it yet.

4) Next, download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and the VX2 Cleaner Plug-in. Install Ad-Aware using the default options, then install vx2cleaner_inst.exe, taking all the defaults there as well.

Run Ad-Aware, update to the latest definitions, and exit. Follow the rest of the instructions in safe mode:

Run Adaware, then click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK", then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.

Reboot your PC and run Ad-Aware again. This time, click on the Start button in Ad-Aware, select "Perform smart system scan" and click Next. Once the scan finishes, click "Next" again. Select all objects found (right click anywhere in the list of found objects and click "Select All Objects"). Click "Next" one more time, then "OK" to confirm the removal.

You will be prompted to set Ad-Aware to run on reboot, click "OK". Exit Ad-Aware and restart your PC once again.

When Ad-Aware starts up, click on "Start", then "Next". Follow the steps above if anything is found, or click "Finish", then exit Ad-Aware.

5)Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
  • Install background guard
  • Install scan via context menu
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
• The program will now open to the main screen.
• When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  
• You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
  • Then click on Start Update.
• The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
• Exit ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key before Windows starts to load.

Once in safe mode first run Cleanup with the above instructions.

Second, find LqFix.bat on your desktop and double click on it to run.

Next run Spybot with the above instructions.

After that run Adaware with the above instructions. Upon reboot, boot back into safe mode.

Lastly, run Ewido.

Now open ewido and do a scan of your system.

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
• Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Reboot and go here to make an online scan, let it remove what it can and save the results:

Then come back and post a new HijackThis log, the Ewido log and the Panda results.
