Greetings from Safe Mode:

When I boot by computer up and XP loads and my desktop loads, I dont even have to touch anything, and a few seconds later the "Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger has encountered blah blah blah and needs to close" then my computer freezes except I can still bring up the task list by pressing Ctrl Alt Delete. I believed this happened a day after i downloaded and installed the google toolbar

here is my Hijack log (I ran this program in Safe Mode if that makes a diff):

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CC916B4B-BE44-4026-A19D-8C74BBD23361} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msfaol.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msmc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msedpb.exe

Reboot after doing so, preferably into safe mode and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msedpb.exe

Then reboot and download the latest version of HijackThis (1.98.2)
http://www.geekstogo...ction=show&id=3

Post a new log made with that.

Regards,

Pieter

I wanted to set a system restore point before i tried your method but decided i should first try to restore to a point a few days before this incident started happening. The computer "failed to restore the sytem to earlier date" or something like that and when i rebooted my computer in the regular mode, the "dr watson" end program box came up. But after i closed it, my computer did not freeze and it worked as fine as it had before. Could there still be something wrong with my comp if it works fine now?

You still have malicious files on your system:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CC916B4B-BE44-4026-A19D-8C74BBD23361} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msfaol.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msmc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msedpb.exe

I'd recommend that you follow Metallica's instructions above.
