Hey guys,
Im an experianced C/C++ programmer and i want to program an IRC Bot. Im developing it for windows and using VB 6(why? because i dont have much time and its the best tool to hand).

Does anyone know any good sources or have any well documented code i can follow?

not all IRC bots are spammers. and almost all IRC services out there either have protocols in place to keep them from working, or are putting the ip in the system to ban them.

However, I agree if it is for spamming purposes then this is not a subject that can be discussed here.

nah, its for a virtual control system, people can install this at home, goto work/class, log into a room on their system and send commands for the computer to do stuff.

I.E.

DaveBot -send "\root\homework.doc"
if a person forgot their homework

or

DaveBot -recordShow 4,30,"The Simpsons"
if a person doesnt set their video recorder

Its just a toy at the moment really.
