I have 2 quick questions here and i need some help

my first question is this...
I would like to leave my computer on all the time but the motherboard does not support features such as hibernation or stand by mode... is there anyway i can change the amount of power it uses so i can leave it on all the time but it uses very minimal power, it is a tyan motherboard

also my harddrive has about 666 mb left on it and the computer i think runs very slow. should i add more ram or upgrade my pc to a new harddrive... the ram and harddrive are both very small

That would be strange. Are you sure it doesn't support power management? Have you checked to see if it's enabled in the BIOS?

Sounds like a hard drive is your immediate need. Moving to a modern 7200 RPM, especially one with an 8mb cache, will improve your performance some. You'd likely notice a larger perfomance increase by adding RAM, but it depends on how much you currently have.

Just make sure it's not disabled. However, it may not be as easy as that. If I remember correctly, Windows 98 setup won't install APM (advanced power management) unless it's enabled by the BIOS. There's a workaround to get it setup, but I'll have to look for it...

<_< You need to add some RAM. I'd recommend 256mb, or at least 128mb minimum.

32mb RAM must be your video card's memory. Windows XP won't install on a machine with less than 64mb's.

What BIOS does this system have (AMI, Phoenix)? Maybe we can give you more detailed instructions on enabling power management
