Display too dark

Our monitor display is really dark and doesnt seem to display colours that well.
I have managed to brighten it up in the display control pannel by bumping up the brightness, but it makes things pretty washed out (even after playing with the contrast)
Im not sure what driver version im using or if theres an update available.
I tried a search for one but couldnt find one.

Is this a recent problem? What kind of monitor is it? Do you have adobe gamma? What is the name of the driver? Have you checked the connections? Try tightening where the monitor plugs into your pc.

As far as i know its been like it for quite awhile
Yes we have adobe gamma, the monitor is tightly screwed into the PC.
As for the type of monitor? Not sure but it says "prodigy" on the front (assuming its the brand name)
