Hi ktownkatman,

Welcome to Geeks To Go, my name is Tony.

What Murray S is asking you is for a fresh posting of your HJT log, not a saved one.

If you are not sure how to do this, then please ask

So, it would be safe to assume then that you do not have a legitimate XP install and installed XP via a disk you or a friend either downloaded or burned.. correct??

Not even near a full log and your HJT log definitely shows you are NOT running even SP1 let alone 2.. Have to believe you used the program you mentioned in the Vista forum to get your XP !!

it says "You are unable to run the Windows Validation Assistant.
The Windows Validation Assistant requires you to be running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. The Windows Validation Assistant also must be run in Internet Explorer.

Since you are unable to run the Windows Validation Assistant, you may visually determine whether your operating system is genuine in the next section."

But im 100% sure it's legit. I used the reinstall from my other comp to upgrade this 1, so I'm sure its good.

And that's why it isn't.. Microsoft's EULA states right out.. ONE XP install per system.. You can't use one cd to install XP on more than one system without purchasing another license..

Just wondering about the first part of that post.. You state that you are running XP yet the Validation Assistant says you aren't.. It also says you must run it in IE.. What are you using for a browser??

Last chance before this thread is closed.. where did you get your XP cd from??
