I would like to insert a string (say “apple sauce”) into any Windows screent by striking Alt-Z.

Terminology: Would Alt-Z be a “shortcut key?” How does “shortcut key” differ from “macro?” Or are the terms synonomous?

Implementation: How do I generate the “apple sauce” shortcut, using W98 alone and\or WORD97? Or do I need a special program, like MacroScheduler, to do it?

Thanks for the clarification. …..wdc

A macro is not the same as a short cut key.

You can make a macro in office 97 to perform the function you mentioned very easily. but the "ALT Z" option will only then be available in office.
