ok wait.....the copy of xp came from toshiba? that came with your original laptop (which i hope that i'm correct was a toshiba?) that's probably where that oem jazz is coming from...the oem cd is usually platform specific

yes. but i originally got the full version. with the new laptop I only got a toshiba recovery cd. they probably assumed I still had the xp cd (correct) my issue is just the serial number, which technically I should have. this is why i am frustrated.
