yeah my computer is lagging quite often no matter what is open...do I have any malware? could the fact that SMART predicted a possibly imminent error on my hard disk? is there any way around this beside getting a new HDD?

Ok, I'm back Dirty-Z.
You log showed one trace of malware.

You may want to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure, as you will not be able to access the internet later in the fix.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZTgServerSwitch] c:\program files\support.com\client\lserver\server.vbs


Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Yeah it's still lagging...could it be because there's a problem with the harddrive? is it possible to disable drive C (14.95 GB) and just run off of D (59.5 GB)?

Hi Dirty-Z. Sorry about the wait, its been busy

We have a few more things to cleanup before your log is clean. Pay attention to the colors of the file names, as they will be used throughout the fix.

NvCplDaemon: System Tray icon used to change display settings, change the clock rate and memory speed for nVidia based graphics cards. This is unnecessary since you can easily configure these settings the way you want them in the Display Properties and not have to mess with them again. We will also need to disable a service for this. That section will also be in blue.
LVCOMS: Lvcomm server. Related to Logitech Quick Cam - works fine without it but it is needed for the Logitech ImageStudio software to connect to the camera
WordPerfect Office 1215: This is the registration from WordPerfect. It is no longer needed
QuickTime Task: System Tray access to Apple's "Quick Time" viewer from version 5 onwards. It is not needed and can be removed.
AIM: AOL Instant Messenger. If connected to the internet, automatically runs up AIM. Convenience more than anything. Available via Start -> Programs

In addition to those optionals, there are three more malware entries. Those will be in red.

Next, go to Start > Run
Type in "services.msc", without the quotes, and hit ENTER
The Windows Services window opens.

Scroll down until you find NVIDIA Driver Helper Service.
Double click the service name. Another window will open.

Under startup type, select DISABLED.
Click OK
Go to File > Exit

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:
