I downloaded ALL recommended spyware and adaware and virus protection scans and the cleaners...my comp. is still a bit slow so i did the hijackthis scan....I don't understand any of it...can someone PLEASE make sure I don't have anything still on my computer..PLEASE!!!
Here's what i downloaded...as-aware,spybot,spyware,cleanup!,ewido,Trojanhunter,and cwshredder...I also have avg for virus scans.

Please reenable everything that has been disabled in msconfig and then post a new log. We need to see all items that have a startup entry in order to be able to advise you accordingly. If you want to disable some items from startup msconfig is not the proper way to do it since your computer will always be running on selective startup then. If you want to eliminate unnecessary items, I can advise you on the proper ways.

Hi babemeow,

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

If all goes well, proceed with the following.

You need to move HijackThis to a permanent folder. Please create a new folder in either C:\ or in My Documents and copy/paste HijackThis.exe into that folder. Delete the temp folder.

Open HijackThis and click Scan. Put a check next to these:

Well I checked how to uninstall this new.net thing and I don't have a 3-1/2 floppy disk and the drive for it isnt there anymore....Is there another option....and why would I lose my internet by doing any of this?
1 more thing, how do I find hijackthis in order to move it to a permant folder....I'm sorry I really don't know computers all that well.

Ok, in that case follow the instructions for first Procedure 2 and if not applicable Procedure 3. If still no luck, download the uninstaller from Procedure 4 to your C:\Windows folder and run the file from there.

Newdotnet is a spyware program that often times inserts a file in your LSP chain which is vital for your internet connection. Newdotnet does this in order to monitor all your online activity.

For HijackThis,

• Download HijackThis again by clicking here,but don’t hit “Open”, but “Save as”. Then navigate to your desktop, and hit “Save”. After downloading, minimize all windows until you’re on your desktop.
• Now double-click on the zip file containing the HijackThis.exe file. Select the HijackThis.exe, and hit the combination “Ctrl + C”.
• Minimize the zipfolder, and go to My Computer. Double-click on C:/, then double-click on Program Files.
• In the menu bar you’ll find “File”. Click it, then choose “New”, and then “Folder”.
• Call this folder HijackThis. Double-click to open this – new – folder.
• Now use the combination “Ctrl + V” to paste the HijackThis.exe into this folder. Now double-click on the HijackThis.exe in the folder you’ve just created.

You can then delete the zip file from your desktop.

Then the entry in your HijackThis log may be a leftover from an old uninstall..proceed with the rest of the instuctions..

When you are putting a check to the entries in HijackThis put a check to this one also:

After clicking Fix Checked delete this folder if it exists:

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Then post the Silentrunners log along with a new HijackThis log.

You are running HijackThis still from a temporary folder. I'm sorry to say if you want to undo any changes made by HijackThis in the future, it didn't save the backups. For HijackThis to save its backups it should be in a permanent folder.

• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
