Disable WinPatrol and try to remove the HJT entries.

Right click the running icon of winpatrol, and choose exit.

If that doesn't work,

1. I would like you to download and run a free trial version of an anti-trojan program called Trojan Hunter: Trojan Hunter . Let it scan your whole system and remove anything it finds.

2. REBOOT
your system.

3. Produce a fresh HJT log

OK, I may have taken care of this thing. I ran KillBox in safemode, but the hijackthis attached to it seems ineffective. While still in safemode, I launched HijackThis from my desktop and it saw the 02-BHO: MSEvents Object..... so I was able to select it and the 020 entry and deleted them. I then rebooted and Xoftspy caught both trojans inbound on the startup scan and I deleted them. I completed the start up and ran Hijack This:

It appears that somehow the embedded HijackThis inside KillBox was unable to see the first infected dll entry.

By the way, I was reading another person's experience trying to kill this thing and noticed that he too could not get the computer to reboot by pressing "any key" Killbox wants you to press <enter> to conduct the reboot.

I also ran trojan hunter and it did not pick up any hits on a full scan.

Many thanks for your time, please advise if you see anything else I need to address and I'll let you know if I get "re-infected." I hope my input on my experiences helps you help others in the near term.

Well done!! I am really happy for you. There are so many mutations of the Vundo infection going around that our coders can't keep up with them.

1. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 Folder.

2. Locate, and DELETE All files named sndavaj. They will have various extensions, such as:
  • ini
  • ini1
  • ini2
  • bak1
  • bak2
  • and so on.
Regards,
