We have a windows XP system. C:\ is our main drive partition. It is filled about 2.5 GB and its size is 5 GB.
But when I choose Disk properties from my computer screen It get disk filled 3.99 GB and free space 1.01 GB.
On checking with Norton disk doctor it gives error in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Config\Software.log file entries.
But that file cannot be fixed since some processes have exclusive lock on it.
Now how to repair it please help.

Hi,

you may start by using CHKDSK /F to check your disk and try to not modify the files from the config directory !
