Yeah its an easy test if you want to simplify it, take some ozone (O3 you know that crisp smell after lightning thats ozone) you bottle it spray in some cfc and see if there is any ozone left, and there wasnt any so from that you are able to see that cfcs react with O3, they didnt twig on to this when they started using it as n no one thought about testing with O3 as down on the ground we are all O2 breathers. ozone is actually poisonous to human beings just the same as high concentration O2 is poisonous to us(an intersting fact, well i think so, i am a mine if useless but thouroughly interesting scientific and geographic facts).

When will it end?? Only Jesus knows, but it WILL end... Read the Book of Revelation, that will tell you all you need to know about the end of not only the world, but the universe as well.

I don't plan on being here when it does end... if it happens when I am alive I plan on being part of the pre-tribulation rapture, otherwise, I will already be with Jesus... I feel bad for those who will be here though... it will be horrific beyond any of our imaginations...

do you mean when the planet as a solid mass no longer exists?Or when mankind mutates the planet and so thoroughly corrupts its natural laws?If the answer is the latter it is already in process,it just takes a long long time.We are forever evolving and in some ways this evolution is destructive and will eventually cause a kind of rebirthing of the human form.Every 100 years or so there has been a mass extinction of human life, the last one being the flu in the 20s,almost half the worlds population was exterminated. At least this time it will ease up on drivetime.

Not being a believer of god i intend on living forever, hopefully devoloping the technology to do so myself i want to specialise in nanotechnology so i will have the money to live forever. So i will let you all know what its like when the world ends, LMAO. It takes a few thousand years for evolution on a drastic level to take place. The biggest most recent one is height, alot of people wont notice it if they are in a country that doesnt have lots of really old buildings but people were alot shorter a few hundred years ago 5 foot was quite tall, at 6 , 5 i would practically be a giant. I definately feel like it when i go to some places that still have low doors and low ceilings.

There will be a mass human extinction pretty soon it becomes more and more likely as the population increases there isnt meant to be 6 billions plus humans on the planet.

I don't think it's something to laugh about Warriorscot, it could be sooner than we all think. Most people are not prepared yet. :tazz:

existance is based on perception. ergo: if you are not able to percieve existance, then existance does not exist. the moment you die the world will end......for you, because you will no longer be able to percieve the world, therby negating it's existance. of course...once you get reincarnated the world will exist once again.

You have a point there. It's quite true that when you die, the world dies for you. Sinc your life ends, you won't be on this world anymore. Interesting post.

The Sun goes black. The Moon becomes red as blood. There's a massive earthquake. Amazingly, the stars drop from the sky like figs from a tree, and the heaven slams shut "as a book folded up"'. All mountains are dislocated, and every island begins to drift.

Suddenly, everything becomes quiet, and in the "four corners of the world", four angels appear. It's the angels that cause the silence: they hold back all wind. Then, from the direction of the Sun, a fifth angel descends, carrying "the seal of God".

After half an hour of complete silence, all [bleep] breaks loose. There's a huge thunderstorm, there's the sound of voices coming out of nowhere, and there's another massive earthquake. Next, there's hail. And fire, burning up all grass and pulverizing one third of all trees. A mountain-sized comet plunges into the sea, turning one third of all water into blood while killing a third of all organisms living in the sea, and sinking one third of all ships.

For the next moment, another meteor plummets into the Earth. An angel brings out a key and uses it to open the lid of a bottomless pit. There's smoke coming from the pit, and then, suddenly, huge amounts of killer locusts, each as lethal as a scorpion, flock out of the smoke. The scorpion locusts leave the 140.000 who carry the divine sign unscathed, but sting everyone else, for five long months in a row. By now, people "shall desire to die." But isn't that a pity: to their astonishment, they discover it is no longer possible to die.

Still holding out? Prepare yourself, actually they've been treating you mildly so far. Suddenly, the locust army out of [bleep] sets out for a huge massacre, butchering one third of all people. People are burnt, suffocated in smoke, or squashed by huge lumps of brimstone, all of which sling out of the locust's mouths. Cities crumble, Jerusalem is destroyed and there's another earthquake, a devastating thunderstorm, and yet another earthquake.

An unholy threesome -- the devil dragon, the antichrist and his false prophet, who is also there -- take up the glove, and declare an all-out war on God. They send out three ghostly frogs to convince all world's leaders to engage in the final battle. God in the meantime gathers his troops at a place which in Hebrew is called Armageddon. And there's more voices and thunderstorms. Not to mention the biggest earthquake that ever shook the Earth, all previous apocalyptic earthquakes included. More cities crumble. Mountains collapse. Every island is swept from the face of the earth. And there's more hail, with hail stones as big as tennis balls.

A bright, avenging angel descends to lead the troops of God: it sits on a white horse, wears a blood sprinkled garment and has the dubious pleasure of carrying a two-edged sword in its mouth. Together with the others, the angel beats the antichrist and his false prophet and throws them into a pool of lava. If you were dumb enough to have joined the antichrist, you're dead: the angel with the sword slashes everyone and uses the corpses to feed the birds.

Now, it's time for the final judgment. All the dead rise, and are judged "according to their works". Many are cast into the pool of lava, those who have an entry in the book of life -- the chosen ones -- live forever.

By now, our planet has underwent some radical changes. There are no more seas, for instance. The skies open up, and an entire city -- the new Jerusalem -- gently lands on earth. It is made of gold, has twelve foundations, twelve gates and twelve angels guarding the gates. People don't die anymore. And what's more, they don't suffer, cry or worry about anything anymore. There are no more murderers, sorcerers, and liars. Also, there's no more day and night. The world bathes in the gloom of the glory of the Lord. "Behold, I make all things new," God declares.

I know that was long, but that is how God (through the apostle John) tells us the end of the world will happen.

Going back to what Warriorscot said I couldn't imagine a fate worse than to live forever anymore than having some eternal after life, the beauty of my life is that it must end and I return to nothing as nothing is where I came from. I am Ceasar's child, the good action is the reward in itself, and my actions must be honest in their motive, if that leads go God or elsewhere so be it, not my problem.
Yes, my confession time: Nichiren shoshu.

okay let me ask all you people this, IF the world will end (which for the record i would once again state i dont believe it will happen) what will you do to stop it??? nothing, something like that cannot be stopped, especially if you believe in the whole biblical end of the world thing (i.e. the rapture, [bleep] on earth, yada yada) and theres no point in stressing or waisting your time worrying about something like that, whatever happens will happen, i say live your life as best you can, (by best i mean comfortably, but at the same time trying to help others when you can) if the world ends accept it, its meant to

does everyone remember the whole Y2K scare, i heard ppl saying end of the world and all that crap, more than a few ppl were saying it was the comming of the apocolypse, t a time when so many people were strssed what were all of you doing, i was one of the few brave ones who went into the city got drunk and had a great [bleep]ing time, while many others were at home huddled in a corner scared, trembling at the countdown

edit:btw, why do they bleep out the word [bleep] here (four letter word, starts with H ends with LL)? it hasnt been considered coarse language in ages, i cant even remember if i was around when it was

Just an afterthought, thenotch if you typed that all out for this post, full marks and the effort has not gone noticed, we may not share the same ending to the story but at least seem to share the goodwill before then. Anyway everyone here should count their blesssing that there isn't those here who thinks that it is the end of the world when their country loses the world cup. Nothern Italy, walk past the church and hear a chorus of "Our father who art in heven give us our football..." springs to mind.
