You don't really need to use a specific file recovery program if you use Windows XP. With system restore, you can restore your computer to a previous time, giving you back all files/folders/programs etc that you deleted previously. :tazz:

System Restore is kinda picky about what it backs up although. If he had deleted something out of My Documents system restore isn't going to fix that.

Off hand I can't think of any GOOD file recovery software that is free. I've had excellent luck using R-Studio although. Scans the drive at the sector level for missing / deleted files.

Best?
I'm partial to ONTrack DataRecovery

Here is a free alternative that works pretty well
Free PC Inspector.

Some people swear by RECOVERMYFILES (google it), but I have not used it.

Thanks for the replies guys :tazz:

System Restore won't work because it is a crashed hard drive that I just used for data storage. Recover My Files is what I'm using now, but you need to buy it. As for PC Inspector, I'll check that out.

Thanks again!
