I just bought a new computer. I hve a ton of stuff on my old one I want to transfer to the new. I don't want to burn CD's and transfer, I don't want to pull the HD out of the old and piggy back it in the new. How do I set and transfer files from the old to the new by networking? Any help would be appreciated...Ho-Dog

Which versions of windows do you have on each one? Do you have a network set up already? Is there a firewall on any of the computers? A few more details and we can help ya no problem. :tazz:

Hey Johnny, XP on both, no firewall, no network hooked up right now, but I do have a router---is there anything else you need? Thanks,

Well I would start by disconnecting my computer from the modem you are using (assuming you have a broadband connection) and connect the computer to the router and connect the router to the broadband modem. Next connect the 2nd computer to the router also. Go to the first computer and go to "control panel", "Network Connections" and start the "Network Setup Wizard". This will guide you through setting up a home network step by step. When you are done run the wizard on the other computer and once you're networked, we can go from there.
