Hi,
This is my first posting so sorry if I don't have everything you require :tazz: .
I've been using information/instructions on your site all of last night and found it really helpful and easy to use - thanks!

I had psguard virus.
Used mcafee but it didn't clean PC entirely.
Have ran through the instructions as you've advised as ran;
Scan for syware/adaware
CWShredder
Spybot S&D
Ewido
Housecall
AVG
TrojanHunter
Didn't do Windows update as i'm sure my PC isn't clean yet.
Reebot and I am now able to start the PC in normal mode (was only to start in safe mode previously)
But, I'm now getting a box on my desktop that says;

WARNING You're in danger
ALL YOU DO WITH COMPUTER IS STORED FOREVER IN YOUR HARD DISK. WHEN YOU VISIT SITES, SEND EMAILS... ALL YOUR ACTIONS ARE LOGGED. AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THEM WITH STANDARD TOOLS. YOUR DATA IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR FORENSICS. AND IN SOME CASES FOR YOUR BOSS, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR WIFE, YOUR CHILDREN.
Every site you or somebody or even something, like spyware, opened in your browser, with all images, and all downloaded and maybe later removed movies or mp3 songs - ARE STILL THERE and could broke your life!
SECURE YOURSELF RIGHT NOW!
REMOVE ALL SPYWARE FROM YOUR PC!

Anyway, here's my HijackThis log if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome mary302 to Geeks to Go!

I notice that you are using more than one antivirus program. This is very dangerous, as multiple AVs can interfere with one another and actually allow MORE viruses to get through.
I strongly suggest you either:(1) configure only one antivirus program to enable automatic realtime scanning, and leave the rest disabled most of the time, or
(2) go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all but one antivirus program.
***

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop.
Please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder.

***

Please disable SpybotSD’s protection, as it may hinder the removal of the infection. You can enable it after you're clean.

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on Resident icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box and/or Uncheck Resident.
Close Spybot.

***

Update Ewido to the latest definition, don't run it yet.

***

Download Brute Force Uninstaller.
Unzip it to a folder of it’s own (let’s say c:\BFU\).

Download Alcan A remover.
Unzip it to the folder we just put BFU in (like c:\BFU\).

Start the program by doubleclicking BFU.exe

In the ‘scriptline to execute’ copy and paste c:\bfu\p2pnetwork.bfu.
Press ‘execute’ and let it do it’s job.

Wait for the ‘complete script execution’ box to popup and press ‘OK’.
Press ‘exit’ to terminate the BFU program.

***

Open Internet Explorer.
Under Tools > Internet Options > on the General tab change your startpage to the one you want.

***

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each

C:\WINDOWS\system32\winis.exe
C:\Program Files\Lvmjsm\Yknncx.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vhqkndt9.exe

For these file, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.
Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Then run HijackThis, click Scan, and place a checkmark by the following item:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IE Runtimes] winis.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Cezazdm] C:\Program Files\Lvmjsm\Yknncx.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vhqkndt9] C:\WINDOWS\system32\vhqkndt9.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [IE Runtimes] winis.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

***

Next, run Ewido.
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
***

Post back to this topic using the button 'add reply' with a fresh HijackThis log and the Ewido log.

Thanks for response and help.
I'm in the process of following instructions but dwonload for Alcan A remover takes me to metallica.geekstogo.com/p2pnetwork.bfu and looks like a text page, I can't see any download.
I'll continue with instructions anyway.

Hi,
Followed instructions but there were 2 things different form instructions;
1) Couldn't download Alcan A remover - page looks like a text file.
2) Running HijackThis with checkmarks - couldn't find R3-Default URLSearchHook is missing
Hope this hasn't caused any probs, everything else was ok, here's my fresh HijackThis and Ewido logs.
(thanks again!)

Sorry for that, I edited my text and repost it now. Please repeat the procedure.

RIGHT-CLICK HERE
and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra Remover. Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU)

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolsrv32.exe
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

***

Doubleclick BFU.exe

In the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\p2pnetwork.bfu
Put a checkmark in the "Show log after script ends" box
Press execute and let it do it’s job.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsConfigs] C:\Program Files\MsConfigs\MsConfigs.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [Srv32 spool service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolsrv32.exe

***

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

***

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
Post me the contents of the smitfiles.txt log as you post back.

Boot back to normal and post back to this topic using the add reply button with a fresh HijackThis log and the smitfiles log

It doesn't look as if the files are still active.

Could you please proceed as follows:

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpySheriff] C:\Program Files\SpySheriff\SpySheriff.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe

Immediately run HijackThis again and save the log

Then reboot and make another HijackThis log.

Then post both logs. This will tell me if something is blocking the changes or if something is rewriting them.

Regards,
