I am using winXP on an hp 8860 pavillion - 512mb ram the darn thing will not boot past the hp logo and the video card info then to the bsod :tazz: I have tried a new video card and new monitor, no help. All I get is the blue screen with the cursor blinking in the upper left corner - no numbers - nothing else! I have even tried to reinstall with the cd but cant do that, i went to window site and tried to download a boot disk but it kept telling me my disk was not large enough - i am now at a loss as to what to try

You're choices are

a) use HP recovery to either 1) restore your PC to factory condition, or 2) on some HP PCs you can do a non-destructive recovery that leaves data intact....check your manual, but I think the menu is arrived at by tapping f10 or f12 on boot.

b) They likely did not include a windows xp disk, so download the following file (rc.iso)

http://www.tweakxp.c...ticle36941.aspx

burn it as a image, and boot your PC with it, and enter the recovery console. The type chkdsk /r

Let it run

Report back any errors.

Yeah, the TweakXP site loads, but when you click the RC.iso file it give a Page Unavailble message. Tweak is fine but the iso link isn't. :tazz:
