I have purchased a amd sempron 2300+ to upgrade from my amd athlon 1800.
The trouble is it only runs at 1.27ghz where as the athlon ran at 1.5ghz.
Can someone please help, my mobo is aV6DP with a VIA VT8375 (km266) and a Award 2MB Flash ROM, which has been upgraded. Bus runs at 133mhz.

Stronger processors require better cooling. First check to make sure your fans are working properly, check the heatsink is in its proper position, and consider adding another fan or upgrading the heatsink. Also try a thermal compound.

Thats all based on a heat related issue though, but is a common problem.

hmmm...the sempron has a front speed bus of 333mhz, what is your motherboard set up at?

Also, the sempron is the 2nd rate processor, i think the althon XP still has the edge on it (i frigginn hope so, im still putting them out with my entry level gaming systems:S)
