hi i was just wondering what you all do to your computer.
heres what i normally do
before i put my internet cord back in my com i
scan for any viruses then i turn on my firewall and put my
norton antivirus on auto protect.

what do you guys do??

Nothing wrong with the way you do things, though you may forget to turn everything back on one day.

You could leave the modem cable in and boot to safe mode, so that it cannot connect to the internet, then scan with your anti virus programme

If the firewall and anti virus are up to date then they should catch everything

Usually I'll have a backup disc at hand before I do any reformatting - one that contains all my anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall/browser software. Right after the reformat, I'll just slip in the disc, install the programs, and once I've made sure that everything is in place and functioning correctly, I'll connect the computer to the Internet, download, install and configure Thunderbird, and...yep. Everything's peachy. *Beams*
