Hey, I've had this issue pretty much since I got back to college. The popup comes up at times when I'm surfing the web, and I've been scanning my computer with various programs including McAfee antivirus, Microsoft Antispyware Beta, Spybot S&D (which now has errors while scanning, unable to access certain files), Lavasoft Adaware (which seems to always freeze now, before completing the scan), Ewido, and Spysweeper. I'm thinking whatever is infecting my computer is slowly corrupting my antivirus/antispyware programs. Here is my HiJack This log:

I did exactly as you said. When I first ran HiJackThis in Safe Mode, this entry did not appear: O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\repair\javaip.dll

I was wondering, after the Vundo virus is gone, what can I do to prevent it from returning? Like I said before, I run MS spyware beta daily, as well as lavasoft adaware, and spybot s&d, McAfee antivirus, etc. Thanks for your help so far!

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program.

Then click

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and see if the following is in there

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is there post back and let me Know before continuing. If it is not there continue



please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program.

I would install Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed. Other than that just keep all these programs updated and you should be good to go

Just one last question: With the spyware blaster program you suggested, is that continually running in the background, or is it something you need to run frequently, like spybot s&d? Other than that, thank you so much for everything. I know where to turn if I need help in the future.

Spyware blaster prevents spyware from being installed as it prevents you from going to known bad sites.It doesnt scan , and uses up no resources. Just update it once or twice a week and enable all protection and let it be
