Probably the easiest way to do it is scrap it off with something like a razor blade. Some people stick it in the freezer for about 10 mins or so, just to make sure its easier to come off, never had a problem though.
Oh forgot keep the blade flat as you can against it, so you don't scratch it up. Afterall, its new.

An alcohol pad will do the trick in 30-45 secs Otherwise you have way too much artic 5 on the cpu anyway

To be honest I have not seen any real difference in practice. I've read the specs and listen to all the techs and gamers but when you get right down to it in prctice I have not found any difference. All I do know is the pad gives me uniform contact and depending upn who put the paste on it may not and I have seen where there has been too much paste used and the cpu get fried because the paste has drip into the contacts.
when you get heads you always win .......have a goodnight

Just use the pad that way you dont void the warranty we only really recomend using arctic silver 5 if there is something wrong with the temps you get with the thermal pad, you could just as easily replace the thermal pad, thermal pads are great if they are allready on saves you messing around and they are designed for the HSF to give good temps.
