laptop slow and freezing up

I need help with Toshiba Satellite M45 laptop, runnning XP. keeps getting slower and slower. Have done everything suggested (run Adaware, CWshredder, Spybot, etc. and it's still slow. I have a hijack log. Is this the place to post it, or are there some other things i could try.

I tried to do a system restore to an earlier date, but it wouldn't let me, and was giving me screens I never saw before??

Any help would be appreciated.
