when i turn my computer on, it starts loading normally and then comes up with the menu asking me if i want to start windows in safe mode, last known configuration, start windows normally, etc. Then, no matter what option you choose windows starts to load and then stops and resets itself. i do not know why this is happening. i have made sure that all hardware was connected correctly and that they all work. could someone please help me out here?

Ok I don't know if that is the same so try this:

Reboot PC making sure the xp disc is in drive. Press Del many times or F1 many times or some key to get into the BIOS settings. Change your boot order so it will boot from CD first. Load up the CD and then try an XP Recovery:

1. Press R to recover.
2. Type Admin Password (Normally just blank)
3. I think you then type 1 and hit enter.
4. Type Exit when it is complete.

The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality.
Type EXIT to quit the Recovery Conselse and restart the computer.
C:\

Ok I really don't know much about the recovery console and don't know how to work it. Try waiting for an answer from someone else.
