Hi PamPP and Welcome to GeekstoGo!

That appears to be the Look2me Infection,so please download the l2mfix from here
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
or
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.

Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until I ask you to.

If you recieve any error messages for CMD or Autoexec.bat>> Select Option 5 from the l2mfix and once at the Site,Click on the link that apply to your Operating System!

Double Click the file it downloads and Extract the files to its predetermined System32 folder!

okay, as I said I am not real up on all this stuff . . .

I downloaded the l2mfix and tried to run option 1. Got the error message and put in option 5. Then I got this message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel.

What does this mean and what do I do?

Thanks,

Pam

Okay,

I got rid of the l2mfix. Emptied the Recycle Bin. Restarted. Downloaded the l2mfix again. Ran option 1 and get the same thing again:

Could not find: c:\DOCIME 1\pam\Desktop\l2mfix\userl.txt

Well this is being a real butt isnt it!

Lets try something a bit different!

Open the l2mfix folder and right click on second.bat then choose open!

See if it runs,if it does,it will reboot the PC automatically,so be sure nothing else is open!

If all goes well,a log will be produced that will tell me much more!

Post that log if all goes well,if not post back and we will approach this another way!

Oh my goodness, this is gonna e interesting!

I will need to see a bit more from the System!

Download WinPFind:
http://www.bleepingc...es/winpfind.php

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Restart in Safe Mode

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!

I am gonna have to pick this one apart!

Okay, I am feeling dense again . . . . :tazz:

I downloaded WinPFind and extracted the files.

I restarted in Safe Mode (I hit F8 - right?)

When it brings up my desktop the WinPFind folder isn't there. I looked under Programs, etc.

What am I doing wrong?
