Hey!

I am having problems with the remains of the Sasser Worm which I tried to uninstall manually but even though it doesnt give me problams and runs in the background, it activates when try to run Adaware. I get the wonderful window that ways that the system with shut down, to close all windows cuz its going to shut down in 59 seconds and that its activated by NT Authority/System by the system process C:\Windows\System32\Services.exe with a status code 0.

Also, everytime I start the pc, I get an annoying "confirm" window that reads "This call is not free, this involves dialing a premium rate number, the cost is International Rates". It appeared (along with many many pop ups...) ever since I received various trojan/viruses through the msn messenger. The only way to delete it is in the task manager, and has changed names from mexico.exe, dial5334.exe, temp543.exe and so on.

Running Bitdefender and others I get a list of viruses, just that they wont get rid of them, but the ones that caught my eye are: Adware, Elitebar, Win32.Random, Win32.Worm, Trojan Downloader, Backdoor.Irc, TrojanIrc, among others.

Also, when I start up I get a message that reads "Error: the specified command is missing." or something like that, I think I might have deleted something at somepoint, but i cose the window and everthing runs ok.

I think thats about as much as I would know so I will post the hijack this log and let you guys take a look and see what you say.

Many Thanks!!! :tazz:

Hi gardenia921, welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time. DO NOT UPGRADE TO SP2 AT THIS TIME
  • Click HERE for the update.
  • Apply the update.
  • REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM
  • Post a fresh Hijack This log
Regards,

Trevuren

OK, I guess I should let you know that I DO have the SP1 and a bunch of "hotfixes" so do I uninstall these? and then run the SP1a, or just go from where we are? I have not installed the SP2 at any time.

Also, I have run Spybot S&D and The Cleaner from Moosoft.

Thanks so much for your time!!! :tazz:
