I am unable to run IE. I had been running McAfee, but uninstalled it as it wasn't doing anything that a free program wouldn't do. It identifed QHosts-17 and hclean32.exe. I can load IE, but it closes by itself. I downloaded and began running FireFox on the recommendation of a friend and then found your website. I have downloaded and run almost everything I can get my hands on from your "Start Here" page. Thanks.

Hello

Download Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.gee...xplanation.html
Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.
When the scan is done, notepad will open with a log in it. Please close this again. I'll need that log later. Normally that log is saved automatically in your silent runners-folder.

Then..

Check if WareOut is present in your software > add/remove programs and uninstall it.
REBOOT afterwards.

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: http://www.f-secure....light/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
leave [X]scan through windows explorer checked,
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there... like "wbemtest.exe"
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and paste this log in your next reply together with the silent runners-log and a new hijackthislog. :tazz:

Hello,

Open blacklight again and choose scan.
Select next items in blacklite and choose rename:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\csdfm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntfsnlpa.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hclean32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\loadctr32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdsndin.exe

Please don't rename wbemtest.exe, because this is a legit file!!

The tool will ask if you want to reboot (restart) choose yes.

After you have rebooted...

Check if above files you let blacklite rename are still present in your system32-folder.
Most probably, it will have a 'ren' after it. For example:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hclean32.exe.ren
C:\WINDOWS\system32\loadctr32.exe.ren

If they are still there, delete them manually. :tazz:

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"System"=-
"System"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"hclean32.exe"=-

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
This is how the regfix must look afterwards: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

Download Find T.zip to root (C:\ )
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=156424
Extract the files inside also to root (C:\).
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.gee...xplanation.html
Open the "Find T" folder and doubleclick runthis.bat
You'll get a log that will be saved in the same folder, I'll need it later.

It really needs to be extracted on your root (C:\) or it might not work!!

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O1 - Hosts: localhost 127.0.0.1
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{F3BC6A95-A677-4312-9699-53715CAC0AE5}: NameServer = 69.50.176.158,85.255.112.8

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Go to start > run and copy and paste next command : ipconfig /flushdns Click OK

* Download: Hoster
Unzip hoster to an own folder, eg C:\Hoster
Start Hoster.exe, click 'Restore Original Hosts' and click OK.

* Download DelDomains.inf and save it to your desktop.
Rightclick on it and choose 'install'.

Post the log T Find created and a new hijackthislog.

How are things running now?

You're the greatest! I'm back up and running just fine. Is there any cleanup of the files I was downloading that needs to be done? Thanks again. I will be recommending the services of GeeksToGo.com!

As a cleanup..
Perform a full scan with an updated Adaware SE and/or Spybot S&D to get rid of the leftovers.
If you don't have those programs yet, you can find the downloadlocations in my sig.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you are having XP SP2, read here how to configure Security Features for Internet Explorer:
