Hi, I'm pretty much a novice at this, but here is my log. I can't get rid of Searh2web, and I'm sure there's loads more wrong as well.

Next, please close all programs except for HiJackThis, and select Fix Checked.
Reboot your computer and boot into safe mode.

To boot into safe mode turn your computer on and press f8, continiously, until a menu appears. At this menu please select safemode

Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Next, open Windows Explorer. The easiest way to do this is:Click Start
Select Run
Type in Explorer
While in Windows Explorer, please delete the following Files, if they are found. Please note thay you may not find the files, please let me know if you do not find them.

C:\Documents and Settings\MAURA\Application Data\ttuh.exe <--This File

Then reboot your computer back into normal Windows, and post a new HiJackThis log for me. :tazz:

Hi again....

Haven't really noticed any change, to be honest.
Still loads of annoying pop-ups. Have changed homepage from Search2Web back to Google, but haven't been using the net until I get this sorted.

The Search2Web Toolbar is still at the top of IE, and the PC is looking for the file 'csrss.exe' on startup. Can I fix this using MSconfig?

As this is a family PC, someone loaded MS Messenger plus. I was reading that this has been the cause of some problems with other PC's that have been infected with malaware. Is there any way to use this safely?

Is there anything else I could do to fix this?

Thanks again - you've ben a great help to a novice who thought he knew what he was doing..

ps Had to go out of town for work, going again on Weds for a few days... :tazz:

Hello!

Open add/remove programs and look for any programs that you do not recognize, post that list in your next reply.

Also, lets run PandaScan.
Please do an online virus scan with Panda ActiveScan Here. You need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.

Once you get to the Panda site, scroll down a bit and click on Scan your PC
A new window will appear; click on Check Now!
A new window will appear; fill in the boxes (Country, State, email addy)
Click on Scan Now! >
If you have never used ActiveScan before, you will be prompted to install an ActiveX control (asinst.cab) : click on Install. Panda will install the component, and then install the latest signature files.
From "Select a device to scan...", choose "My Computer"
Allow the scan to run. It'll take a while.
When complete, click on "See Report", and then on "Save report"; save it to a convenient location.
I will need you to post that report in your next reply; simply open the text file, then copy/paste the content here.

Hi,
I've tried to run the Panda scan, and it won't let me run it. I've added the shortcut to my desktop, and it is says the page cannot be found when I open it.

When I try and run the scan the way you asked me to, it comes up with an error on the page, as soon as I click on 'My Computer', when I'm selecting the device to scan. I did download the Active X controls when prompted.

Sometimes, the error closes IE, and prompts me to report the problem. There is also a program called DR Watson Postmortem Debugger that asks me to report the problems with exactly the same screens as MS Errorreporting. I don't know what this is?

There are no programs that I can see as being suspicious in the Add/Remove box, but then again I might not know which are dodgy. Any that I don't know what they are seem to have recognised publishers like Dell, Sun, Microsoft, Adobe etc.

There is one called 'Broadjump Client Foundation' that I do not know what it is, or what it is for, and it does not have a publisher.

Hello!

You are not doing anything wrong, you are doing things perfectly. PandaScan is moody and it doesnt like working with some people. The programs you listed are fine.

Can you post a new HiJackThis log for me?

Hello, and welcome back!

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.

Install ewido security suite
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
- Install background guard
- Install scan via context menu
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
- On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
- Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:

Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Close ewido security suite.

Hi,
I already had Eiwdo downloaded, and I ran it. I'm not sure if it was downloaded exactly as specified. Should I uninstall and re-install it as instructed?

Download Findlop by Metallica. Unzip it to your desktop.

Double click findlop.bat. It will open a notepad file.

Hello!

Please uninstall Messanger Plus 3. Then reboot your computer.

Once you have rebooted, please follow the below directions:

Copy everything inside the code box below and paste it into notepad. Go up to "File > Save As", click the drop-down box to change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as remlop.bat on your desktop.

Then please download Lop.zip (it is attached to the bottom of my reply).

Hi,
I removed MSN Messenger (as I couldn't uninstall Messenger Plus seperately) using Add/Remove programs, but I'm not 100% sure that it has gone.

I've followed all of your other directions, and here is the log that you requested:
