Thank you in advance for taking the time to look at this. I keep getting popups from WinAntiSpyware wanting me to download their software. When I close it, it opens their webpage. My spyware programs are not catching anything, but I know something must be causing this! I am getting multiple popups of the same type at the same time, right now three are on my desktop. • Run HijackThis
  
• Click SCAN and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')
  
• POST the log into this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.

• The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
• In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

• After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
• Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
• Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK

Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Hi Trevuren,

I printed the instructions. I downloaded the Vundofix successfully. But, when I go into safe mode, I highlight "safe mode" press Enter, then I just get a black screen with the words "safe mode" in all four corners of the screen. There is nowhere for me to click to open the vundofix folder. Help!

Try this:

To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in Safe mode

• Close all open programs.
• Click Start > Run.
• In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and then click OK.
• In the System Configuration Utility, on the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT.
• Click OK.
• When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart
• The computer restarts in Safe mode. (This can take several minutes.)

When you are finished working in Safe mode, use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in normal mode.

To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in normal mode

• Finish what you need to do in Safe mode.
• In the section "To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP" above, repeat steps 1-3 (inclusively).
• But in step 4, uncheck /SAFEBOOT.
• Close all programs, and restart the computer.

Okay, this is NOT GOOD. I followed your instructions, when it rebooted, I saw the same Black screen. In each of the four corners it reads SAFE MODE. At the top of the screen, it reads

Yesterday, when this happened I was able to turn the computer off with the power button and restart in normal mode. Now, it restarts in safe mode. I am now using another computer, as I cannot use mine. Please help!!
