:tazz:

we have a dell poweredge 1600 sc server with window server 2003 installed.
the original server comes with 3 36gb hard drive with raid 5 controller installed. currently, all 3 hard drives are full. we need to add one more.

I am not familiar with the hardware configuration. With the help of DELL technician, I purchased the same 36GB hard drive with a higher speed, but everything else is the same. Dell told just slide in. I am not sure.

Can someone provide me some instruction on this topic?

Thanks inadvance

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. I did a google search for "adding a hard drive into a raid 5 controller" and found about 1,860,000. This from the first page may be useful
http://www.smartcomp.../14w02.asp
If this does not help, try a google search yourself. You may need to change how you word the search to get what you are looking for.
