On machine running XP Pro SP2, ample memory, menus tend to disappear before choices can be made. I have tried to use MSCONFIG to check for/adjust things but even the config screen disappears in about 3 seconds. Boot Option time is fine, but some programs besides msconfig show same behavior; MS Office and QuickBooks and Acrobat, etc., do not. I have not fussed with Registry because I would not know what to fuss with. I have other XP Pro SP2 machines, none do this.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Sounds more like a Hardware Problem to me !

Did anything happen before this happened for the first time? ( eg. new program )

This isn't hardware problem. Hardware isn't selective this way. No, I don't think new software was installed within months of this starting. Machine is oddly slow but HD is old, and otherwise works fine. Just this odd behavior and not on all software. Access to internet restricted, usually not open, but not impossible that something nasty came in through network. No other machines on network (8 total) show similar symptoms.
