Hi guys,

Me again...

I'm at my mom's now... and she's having problems with her computer. She has a dial-up connection and up until recently, when she'd double click the ie icon, it would automatically dial in and connect.

But since a couple of days now, she has to manually open her internet connection and only then can she open ie.

I found 180Search Assistant on her system.

I removed it in Add/Remove programs.

I ran CleanUp and AdAware.

This is the HJT log.

Is there anything else we should do? Thanks in advance... :tazz:

hi again Dark_Start_Qc

well your moms computer has some ad-ware, but fo the most part it is clean.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

first click on Ctrl-Alt-Delete and end this process.

MediaGateway.exe

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Gateway] C:\Program Files\Media Gateway\MediaGateway.exe
O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windup...bridge-c356.cab

for the next step you may wnat ot check in add/remove programs before following what is posted.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\Media Gateway

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Well, hi there... :-)

I'll go to her house this weekend and do all you suggest. I'm afraid she's not very computer savvy... :-)

I'll post the log when I'm done. Thank you!!
