OK, I'm another of those that have the Winfixer/Trafficxplorer/WinAntiSpyware pop-up bug.

I have downloaded all the suggested malware fighters and run those, but these gits are still with me.

So, I have just run HiJack this, and the log is as follows. Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I got as far as where HiJack This should open, and although the DOS prog says 'HiJack This opened', it ain't!

I have just a black screen. I minimized the DOS screen and nothing hiding there either.

Got no desktop icons, so can't open 'HiJack This' manually.

Do it agian, but this time, manually open Hijackthis before you start KillVundo.bat. then when it gets to the HiJackthis part, just follow the instructions.

I'm having a problem with the second filepath name, which you will probably see from the attachment is correct, but the 'filepath does not seem to exist'.

It 'existed' the first time I did it but 'HiJack This' didn't open

Am continuing the steps, but C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB896727$\svcdns.dll wasn't in the Hijack This list. Is it important?

I'm running Active Scan now, which will take several hours. I have run this twice before and because of a broadband connectivity issue, neither scan was completed and no results visible when I reappeared to check it.

Anyway, this is progress and is much appreciated!

Deleted the first file via Explorer, but . . .

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vtstt.dll

. . . can't be found. I did a C drive search and that brought up nothing either. Any ideas?

Also, those viruses the Kaspersky scan found. Did that program delete them, or do I need to do that?

More than lilely that file is not there now.

AS far as the others one are concerned. They are either the same one that you deleted already, part of spybot, or in te system restore that will be fixed when you reset your control points.

Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Now that your system is Malware Free, it is important to reset your system Restore. Click Here to learn how to.

I recommend that you Defrag your computer before setting your Restore points:

Go to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Defragmentor Make sure it set to the proper drive (default should be your main driver) and click on defragment


Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs, if you don't already have them, for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE
Spybot S&D
Microsoft Anti-Spyware


If you are unhappy with your current antivirus and want to replace it or if you dont already have one, I suggest one of these free programs:
*Note - do not use more than one anti-virus program as it will more than likely cause conflict.

AVG
Avast
AntiVir


The following free programs are great for prevention:

Spywareguard
IE/Spyad

A Firewall is a must! Here are 3 good free versions:
(do not have more than one firewall running on your system)

There are other options other than Internet Explorer for a browser, which some say have better security. Two of them are:

Firefox
Opera

If you decide to keep Internet Explorer, This site is a great source for tightening up security on It's settings.

Make sure that you keep your Operating System and IE updated with the latest Critical Security Updates from Microsoft...they usually come out once a month, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
For ease use the following program:

Cleanup
Run "Cleanup" and when it has finished, Reboot
