I have gone through the steps posted at the beginning of this forum. The winfixer and adyieldmanager are taking over my machine. Here is my Hijack This log:

Also, after installing Ewido, I am repeatedly getting the following notification of pmkji.dll, spyware.virtumonde which I choose to clean, and each time I reboot or start up Internet Explorer, I get the same message.

I'll be looking forward to any help and instructions you can give me to clean up my computer. Also would love instructions on how to prevent re-infection, as I have a teenage daughter who may have been the one to invite these programs onto my computer unknowingly. But then again, we probably all like to think it's the kids making these mistakes!

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.


Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Also note, one must be either logged in under the Administrator account or have administrator privileges to be able to successfully complete these procedures

1. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please REBOOT your computer into Safe Mode.

    You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.
    it should look like this

    By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk
    Please seek assistance at one of the following forums:
    http://www.atribune.org/forums
    http://www.247fixes.com/forums
    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum

  • At this point press enter one time.
  • Next you will see:

    Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkji.dll


  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:

    Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ijkmp.*
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
2. The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
      O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkji.dll
      O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmkji - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkji.dll
      O20 - Winlogon Notify: rqrss - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqrss.dll (file missing)

  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
  • Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
3. Download and install CleanUp!
  • Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
  • Set the program up as follows:
  • Click "Options..."
  • Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
  • Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
[*]Click OK
[*]Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
[*]It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.
[/list]4. Please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan
Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

When prepping my system to post my HijackThis log, I ran into problems with CleanUp!

I ended up having to go back to a previous restore point of Windows XP to restore my system. It gave me an error message after it was done running stating that files necessary to maintain system stability had been replaced by unrecognizable files. I looked on the forums for CleanUp! and it looks like it has a glitch for Windows XP. If I select the options you listed, do you think it will still delete the system files from my computer?

I have run this identical Fix over 100 times without any report of problems. That's all I can tell you.

Thank you for your help. It DID work, I was running ActiveScan, and a catastrophic event occurred. Even now, I can't believe how this happened. I had a glass of soda in my hand and walked by the laptop to see how far Active Scan had progressed. I turned to walk away and the glass BROKE APART :tazz: in my hand!! It must have been cracked from the dishwasher. I tried to hold on to the glass but it began to cut my hand, and the soda poured over the laptop. I immediately turned the laptop over, got a towel and dried it off upside down as best as I could, but the screen immediately went black. I used a cool hair dryer, I opened it up last night and got a few drops out of the inside, but mostly it seemed dry. Today, the laptop will begin to try to power up and then shut off. I think I fried it. I still can't believe this happened!
