The past couple days I've been getting numerous popups. Sometimes they even lock up my computer, or shut the webpage I was trying to open. VERY frustrating! I ran adaware, spyware doctor and spybot search and destroy. They didn't find it.

My McAfee is finding things. It keeps popping up telling me it found a "Pup", and deletes it, but it comes back anyway.

Whatever is going on also made it so some words are double underlined - making them clickable. After I submitted this, some of the spyware programs were underlined (including the word McAfee).

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get rid of the double underlined word issue, but I'm still getting random pop-ups. For instance, when I log onto a game site (like pogo.com) I get a few casino pop-ups.

You're always going to get those popups on pogo's site. I get them too. They're not due to malware on your computer, just the site's way of advertising.

Your log looks clean to me. Are you have any other problems?

I never had pop-ups before at pogo until the day I started having my other problems (double underlines and other pop-ups.) If I do a google search for spyware programs, I get pop-ups for spyware removal. I usually get a pop-up when I first open explorer too.

Not sure where that bugger attached itself, maybe I'll have to do my monthly Windows reformat. haha

Ok, so you are getting popups on several different sites, not just pogo.com That would indicate that something is still present.

Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Then click on Start Update

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
• When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Now close ewido security suite.


Reboot your computer and post a new hijackthis log and the log from Ewido.
