Give it a try...we can run it from a bootup command prompt if we have to. Give it a go.

Ok...let's go a different direction with this. Do THIS..it will leave all your data and settings in good shape.

To be totally honest, I am seriously leaning towards a bad video card.

Please let me know how this turns out...

Here's a strange idea. Now, I'm on a Dell with Nvidia Geforce 4 PCI, and when I tried to load Windows XP Pro, I got the same error message. Now, even with the card removed, it sent me the same message. The file it stopped on was VGA64k, but with the same stop message. So, I can only assume it's the onboard video.

I tried in BIOS to disable it and point it to the video card, unfortunately my BIOS won't let me. So, maybe you could try this? Let me know if it works for you. Just an idea. I think mine was struck by lightning.

Surge protectors just aren't enough. UNPLUG.

*UPDATE*

I was able to get around this message in an ODD way. If you're using a DELL, check the BIOS revision number. Press F2 to get into BIOS, then if it says anything under A09, you might want to flash your bios. (NOT for the faint of heart.)

Anyhow, I flashed mine to A09, and viola. It went straight past the error message about the video card. Maybe lightning did something to my BIOS. I have no idea. I only know the flashing of my BIOS fixed the problem. Good luck to you.
