:tazz: Hello, I have finally got round to creating a website. Not the first, I did one using Serif's 'Page Plus 9'. I eventually had trouble with that which was only a test but now I have Macromedia's 'Dreamweaver' and though I am understanding the workings of it regarding procedure I always get the message that 'the server is not responding' when I try to upload a few files. I have two free web spaces and it is the same with both, one is the web space I used successfully before and the one I am concentrating on. If I do a test upload with a few files using Page Plus again it works but when I try with Dreamweaver I get the negative response. I know this can be a complicated business but can anyone give me any ideas of where the problem might be. Dreamweaver is allowed as an exception in the Windows XP firewall and also filtered in my McAfee firewall, I have even tried it without and it still won’t work. Is there a setting I don't know about in the program or on my computer? I don't have a clue, Hope you can help.

Steve

Hello and welcome.

It could be that the file is too large to upload or that your monthly bandwith on the site has expired.

Hi Freddie, I'm only talking about KB's as a test. I'm not sure what the definition of Bandwidth is or it's relevance though I haven't seen anything referring to a limitation. The web space is actually empty now. I'm only guessing but I think the problem is more basic but I just don't know what to check. I connect to the server but it just won't recognize an upload. Dreamweaver says the server is not responding and can't find the info for the remote folder. Of course there isn't one as I can't upload it though I have tried dropping the folder in via Int. Expl. but it still won't recognize it.
Ntl is my SP for this site and they are uncommunicative when it comes to tech details apart from upload info or if you pay to phone tech advice on their premium rate number.
