Howdy:

You can't download Microsoft Word, you have to buy it..

That being said, suggest you do a search for a program called Open Office.. It is a freebie and is a clone of Microsoft Office - meaning it saves its documents as.doc files, etc..

It can open Word files and Word can open its files..

As for a new system, check out the Dell site.. They have some VERY good back to school specials on now that should suit you just fine !!

Not a gamer so I suggest you post a link to that system in the Games Forum and get some reviews/suggestions from those in there!!

Question on the Works problem - my son has same problem. His new laptop with WIN XP (?), my desktop with WIN98. Looks fine on his, on mine it's gibberish. Could it be simply that I don't have the fonts that he wrote in?
Here is a link about fonts that might (already) be Geeks helpful:
http://web.mit.edu/j.../www/fonts.html

I appreciate any input.
