hey guys,

first off, thanks for the help. i've been dealing with spyware for a while now, and this forum has helped me a lot. my problem right now is that even though i dont have like something thats inhibiting use of my computer, there are still some annoyances. i think i have 4 or 5 spywares or trojans that counterspy, spybot, and adaware just cant get rid of. i suspect its from my brother looking at ::ahem:: stuff, but i havent actually caught him in tha act. in the meantime, i've password protected my computer so that problem should be temporarily solved. can you guys help me eliminate everything? i'm also paranoid of like keyloggers or people getting into my documents. i may just end up reformatting.

some of the problems ive been having:
-something called "abetterinternet" keeps on reinstalling itself
-links i click on google sometimes get directed to the same explicit websites, even in firefox
-i keep on getting trojans
-a fake windows security center thing keeps on popping up. its gone for now, but it'll be back. i'll post screenshots of this when it does.
-explorer crashes often
-computer sometimes freezes, then comes back (happens often with firefox)

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.

Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Some hijacks interfere with the installation of Service Pack 2, so we'll hold of for now. When we're finished cleaning your computer we highly recommend installing SP2. Click here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
